Prosthetics – Screw Retained

Screw-retained restorations allows for easy and nondestructive retrievability of the restoration.

Screw retained restorations are designed to be screwed directly onto the implant or onto a screw retained abutment.

The advantages are the restoration can be unscrewed and repaired, maintenance, cleaning and alterations can be done without damaging the substructure, restoration or implants.

Southern Implant Screw Retained Abutment Options:

Prosthetics - Compact Conical
Passive™ Abutment
Gold Abutment
Titanium Abutment

The Gold Abutment is a pre-manufactured abutment, made of a gold alloy, (Gold (60%), Palladium (20%), Platinum (19%) Iridium (1%), and a plastic sleeve, (Acetal), to assist in the manufacture of a restoration/prosthesis in the dental laboratory procedures. The plastic sleeve is not for clinical use, but is used to aid in the laboratory procedures.

The Gold Cylinders, engaging and non-engaging, are used in the laboratory procedures to manufacture single and multiple unit dental prostheses respectively, to be secured to dental implants by a retaining screw/s and multiple unit restorations on abutment (compact conical) level. This cylinder has the advantage of a gold base that is pre-machined to give a precise fit to the implant, together with a waxing sleeve, to facilitate an easy wax up process.

Titanium Abutments:

Southern Implants Titanium abutments are premanufactured and are available in different connections, collar heights, engaging and non-engaging versions. These abutments are to be fitted directly onto implants or abutment level (compact conical), and intended for use as an aid in prosthetic rehabilitation.

Although the original intention with Titanium abutments was for making temporary implant restorations, they can be used in permanent or difinative roles as they are pure titanium and made to exact tolerances.

In some patients the soft tissue does not respond well to sub gingival resin so the titanium cylinders are available in two different collar heights, (1mm and 5mm,) and the taller cuff is recommended to lift the restoration away from the soft tissue.

Compact Conical Abutments:

Compact Conical Abutments are made from Titanium grade 5. They provide a non-engaging design ideal to accommodate full arch restorations.

The use of angulated abutments facilitates parallelization, and enables a common path of insertion for full arch restorations and multiple unit bridges.

Screw-channel orientation and access position can be a challenge especially in the esthetic zone. Since the screw channel is determined by implant angle, the screw access hole sometimes lies on the facial, visible side of the restoration. Suitable adaptation of the screw axis onto the palatal side can be achieved by means of angulated abutments (for example Compact Conical Abutments 17° or 30°), allowing an angulation of the screw channel. In situations, when implants are not placed deeply, please consider, that the abutment may become exposed and be visible supra-gingivally.

Passive Abutment

Passive Abutment

The Passive Abutment allows a predictable passive fit of superstructures in a repeatable way for both milled and cast restorations. This is accomplished by luting a pre-machined titanium interface into the finished prosthesis, using the laboratory master model.

This product is built on the premise that impeccable fit to the implant (minimizing microgap) is of great importance for longevity of implant treatment. The best milled interfaces result in 15 to 50 micron microgaps.
